a peek into one of my classrooms

a catty aside (redundant, perhaps, since most of my asides gravitate toward that direction): i was watching other student teachers today as their students left the classroom -- none of them received hugs. in other words, i think that today's dramatic portrayal of what monkeys, elephants and snakes sound like while teaching about animal classification systems paid off substantially. not that i'm consciously trying to compete with other student teachers, but it feels nice when people literally clap their hands at your presence.

also -- have decided that the name "santiago" is on my shortlist of favorite names. its nickname, santi (pronounced SAHN-tee), rolls off the tongue really easily and is just fun to say. apparently its english equivalent is james (no, doesn't make sense to me, either). another good day.
